Happy Halloween

No creative title tonight.  I'm beat!  What a great Halloween though!  We started off the day bright and early even though Marissa didn't have school and both Chad and I were off work.  Marissa had her first eye exam today at 8:15 so no sleeping in for us.  Luckily I planned ahead and baked some chocolate chip pumpkin bread last night so we could have a quick (and Halloweeny) breakfast before we left.  She did great at her exam and although she is a bit far-sighted and has a slight astigmatism, she doesn't need glasses.  We came home and hung out and then had these fun "jack-o-lantern burgers" for dinner.  Not only are they cute, but they are DELICIOUS!  I have to send a big Thank You to my mother-in-law for giving me a wonderful Taste of Home Halloween book that has tons of great recipes and crafts.  I got both the pumpkin bread and burger recipes from it and also realized there are a lot of yummy recipes in there that aren't necessarily just for Halloween so I look forward to trying some more out soon!

We got a pleasant surprise call from some friends that we hadn't seen in way too long and they came trick-or-treating with us which was fun for the kids and for me since daddy ditched us for the Monday Night Football Game (Go Chiefs!).  Then we came home and dumped the candy on the floor to check it out and handed out our own candy (which I think the kids enjoyed almost as much as collecting it).  We usually end up with tons of leftovers so I bought all of my personal favorites this year and wouldn't you know we ran out?  Probably a good thing for my waist line.  Anyway, I'm rambling so I will end this by saying that it has become an unintentional tradition for me to get kinda crappy photos at Halloween.  You would think since my kids are all dressed up it would be a GREAT time for photos, but once the costumes are on, they are ready to GO and once we got home they are ready to rip them off and dive in to the candy and I leave my "photographer hat" on the shelf and proudly wear my "mommy hat" instead while making sure the top priority is FUN!  :)
And I really almost hate to post this one because Marissa is a HOT MESS in it between her messy wig (I fixed her before we left) and her "I'm in pain" smile, but it's the only one I got of Chase tonight and our little friend Jacob so...sorry Marissa.
