Serendipity. It's one of my favorite words. Partially because it's fun to say...try it. :O) But also because of it's meaning- "a happy accident". I think some of the best things in life are "happy accidents". Today was serendipity. Our plans were to go to the zoo for Mother's Day. The cooler was packed, the wagon was loaded in the truck and we were off. We get to the zoo and find that everyone else in the Greater Kansas City area was there too. Not a single parking spot, they were overflowing into a grass lot. The lines to get in wrapped around the entrance and we anticipated it taking an hour just to get in. This didn't look like fun so we started to make a change of plans (after I had a minor breakdown because I was faced with breaking the hearts of my little people on Mother's Day). Chad remembered that some of the Kansas City Firefighters that come into his work had told him to bring the kids by to hang out on the fire engines sometime so we headed there. They were amazing and welcomed us in like we were family. The kids got to climb in and on the engines and hear the siren. They were given stickers, posters, coloring books, and stuffed animals and then were invited into the kitchen to sit down for a bowl of ice cream! After the Fire Station we headed to Deanna Rose Farmstead so that we could still see some animals. Most of them were farm animals, instead of lions and polar bears, but the kids had a blast bottle feeding the little goats and running around. What a great Mother's Day.
Careful. Those goats attack!
