Like I said in another post, one of the things I love (and did not expect) about this blog is how much I am learning from it. I learned a lot of interesting things today. 1) I am addicted to making hats now. 2) I need to start making them bigger because so far none of them fit either of my children (but luckily they will make great baby photo props!). 3) I noticed the the photos of Marissa modeling this hat (which is a bit too small...again) all had a terrible orangeish tint to them and they were a nightmare to edit. No matter what I did I couldn't get her skin tone to look right which was baffling because I was in a neutral colored room with a lot of natural light and wasn't using a flash. I also noticed a reddish/orangish dot in her eyes in every shot. Again, I wasn't using a flash and there was nothing that color in the room...except me.

I zoomed in on her eyes and that's when I saw myself and realized I had a bright orange (darn Illini) shirt on which was causing the dot and because the sun was bright and reflecting off of the snow from all angles into the room, it was also causing a color cast. I am always thinking about wall colors or the subjects own clothing colors causing a cast when doing a shoot, but never have I thought about my own.
